Drivel
(Note: After trying to read the Financial Times Magazine flying from Rome to St. Louis)
Countless drivel fills
magazine racks &
trash containers.
Drivel this and that,
using the most imaginable
pedestrian language
to describe
ideas, events,
discoveries and inventions.
But rarely is the subject
itself the cause
for the drivel
rather it is the treatment
and presentation of the same
that causes me such distress.
Ordinary reporters
never go
beyond the Five Ws (and one H),
while the gifted poet
makes the everyday
heavenly.
