See my new blog: MRKIMMOSLEYWRITE.BLOGSPOT.COM Diaristic Notations started 7/18/07. The images are created on a Palm Pilot TX. To read the novel from the beginning, go to July 18 posting and click on the following day at the bottom of each post. Or if you wish to jump on the train in the middle of the trip and start with today's post, that is okay as well. Thanks!

Well, from a strickly Buddhist standpoint, I suppose the answer might be that there is no "this" in opposition to an imagined "that." All is an undifferentiated "one"...I think that if more people accepted this viewpoint, and thus realized that by hurting others (or the planet)they are hurting themselves, the world would certainly be a better place.
Suffering, though, is - in my opinion - more than "just a point of view." It's not entirely born of desires that can be overcome, is it? It's real enough. But knowing it's part of life - AND learning to accept that fact - AND by not clinging to things that are subject to flux - AND by identifying not with your personal circumstances but rather with the oneness which we together constitute - that's the (Buddhist) key to dealing with it. What a practical philosophy.
