Better
When feeling better after not
you start to think
of all the things you forgot
to think about when you were not.
Like all the dumb things
you were supposed
to do, or find, or say.
When your head is dizzy
and you can't think, they hide
behind the black cloud,
like the 300 tons of dirt
in the 30s that made its
way through the great plains.
Now, better, the dust settles,
and you see the mundane,
but also the very special stuff
that glitters, warms our hearts
and lets us know we are alive.
